Wealden Benches has spent a quarter of a century establishing itself as a premier independent manufacturer of luxury garden furniture for private estates and premium public spaces. Our 25 year history is built entirely on engineering heavy duty A Grade teak seating that stands the test of time. Today our furniture coordinates outdoor spaces for prestigious estates across the United Kingdom including properties managed by English Heritage, the National Trust, various NHS Trusts, major universities and local parish councils. This extensive commercial portfolio reflects our absolute reliability and the industrial structural integrity of our timber.

Wealden Benches offers an efficient and highly personalised service for every private homeowner and commercial client. Thomas leads our office team ensuring expert support from your initial enquiry through to final delivery, seamlessly supported by Sheila and Wendy. Together they coordinate our nationwide deliveries, manage complex site logistics and welcome visitors to our premises. In our dedicated Design Studio James crafts custom engravings and metal plaques to bring your unique message or family legacy to life. Before leaving us Jamie and Harvey meticulously prepare and quality check each individual piece ensuring total perfection through traditional mortise and tenon construction and rigorous inspections, all directly overseen by our owner and founder Adam.

To truly appreciate the superior nature of genuine heartwood teak, we encourage clients to experience our collections in person at our East Sussex showroom. This viewing environment allows you to examine the heavy timber profiles, test the ergonomic comfort of our designs and see the impeccable finish of our traditional joinery. Visitors can meet our staff and arrange to see our workshop team preparing furniture for dispatch. Viewing our craftsmanship firsthand provides you confidence whether you are purchasing a single luxury seat for a patio or coordinating a large commercial project.

We recognise that arranging the arrival of heavy premium furniture can feel stressful when trying to coordinate busy schedules or difficult garden access. Our team acts as your delivery partner throughout the entire process to alleviate this worry. From the initial layout conversation to the final arrival of your fully assembled furniture, we maintain open lines of communication so you are never left guessing. We are here to provide total clarity ensuring that your garden furniture is handled with care and delivered seamlessly to your home, ready to enjoy immediately.

When you choose Wealden Benches for your home you are investing exclusively in the true heartwood of mature timber which we classify as A Grade teak. The dense central core of the log is rich in protective natural oils and silica providing an authentic lifespan of over 25 years without any artificial intervention. As it weathers the British elements over the seasons this premium timber naturally develops a beautiful silvery grey patina ensuring your private garden seating remains structurally sound and elegant for decades of outdoor enjoyment.

While many online retailers offer cheaper mass produced teak furniture, this lower price point is almost always achieved by utilising "sapwood" which is the soft porous outer layer of the tree trunk. This inferior timber completely lacks the natural density and self protecting oils required to survive outdoors. In these lower grade products, the pale sapwood is frequently chemically stained and dyed to mimic the rich golden hue of premium heartwood. However once exposed to rain and frost, these artificial treatments quickly wash away leading to rapid warping, structural splitting and ultimate collapse of the furniture.

For a quarter of a century our master craftsmen have educated private homeowners on the critical distinction between generic retail marketing labels and true A Grade heartwood. We combine this uncompromising material specification with traditional mortise and tenon joinery rather than flimsy flat pack screws. By choosing the personalisation, expertise and trust of our East Sussex family business, you ensure your garden receives an authentic piece of luxury furniture built with structural integrity.

At Wealden Benches we believe that furnishing a beautiful garden should never come at a cost to the natural world. For 25 years our business has operated on the firm principle that luxury, durability and environmental sustainability are entirely inseparable. We understand that our retail customers want premium wooden garden seating that will stand beautifully for decades while fully respecting the global forests that provided the timber.

We believe genuine ecological care requires independent verification, which is why we maintain full FSC® Chain of Custody certification. Our wood-based materials come from FSC® certified sources, meaning they originate from forests and other controlled sources that are managed according to the rigorous environmental, social and economic standards of the Forest Stewardship Council®. Together with our verified UK FLEGT certification, this demonstrates our commitment to responsible sourcing and full traceability throughout our supply chain.

Our commitment to the planet begins with strict adherence to global and domestic timber laws. We exclusively source our premium A Grade teak in full compliance with the UK FLEGT (Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade) frameworks. This legally guarantees that every single piece of heartwood timber utilised in our production is 100% verified traceable and harvested from responsibly managed plantations with a zero tolerance policy for illegal deforestation.

To guarantee that your garden furniture arrives in immaculate condition, all retail home orders are carefully transported via our friendly specialist delivery partners who understand how to handle premium timber. For further convenience we offer specific AM delivery slots for large items of furniture so you can easily plan your day around the arrival of your furniture. For our commercial trade clients, landscape designers and estate managers handling large volume projects we provide a premium White Glove service to ensure that multiple items are safely offloaded and precisely positioned on site with total professionalism.

While our premium garden furniture represents the highest standards of craftsmanship, our streamlined workshop operations mean you do not have to wait weeks for delivery. Because we hold a substantial stock of teak furniture and operate our own precision CNC machinery in house, we meticulously manage production from layout design to final loading. This efficiency allows us to finish and dispatch your order swiftly ensuring your luxury garden furniture arrives safely at your home without the typical long manufacturing delays seen elsewhere in the industry.

Unlike generic online retailers who dump cheap flat pack furniture at your gate via standard next day couriers, we do not expect you to assemble your own seating. We invest in skilled workshop carpenters who carefully build your furniture using traditional mortise and tenon joinery methods to ensure an authentic 25 year structural lifespan. Your teak garden bench, day bed or table arrives at your property completely assembled and beautifully hand finished by professionals, making it ready for immediate use in your garden.
